Stars of 'The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys' preview 2nd season of reality TV show
New episodes of “The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys” air Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo and are available to stream Tuesdays on Peacock.
With “Yellowstone” officially ending in December 2024 after five seasons, fans of western and cowboy drama can watch the real thing unfold in the reality TV series “The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys.”
Back for a second season, the the stakes couldn’t be higher for the brothers – Steven Jr., Jesse, Cole and Brayden – in rural Missouri at the McBee Farm and Cattle.
“I’d like to say that we’re in a different place, but we’re pretty much right where we followed in Season 1 with all the relationship drama, all the farm problems and issues,” Jesse said. “We’re trying to figure out a way to make the $6 million payment. Steven Jr.’s still trying to navigate his relationship with Calah and figure out what direction it’s heading, I’m planning my wedding – or I’m not planning my wedding, Alli’s planning it – and Cole and Kacie are planning on having a baby, so they’re trying to navigate how to go about becoming new parents.”
Not back for the second season is patriarch Steven McBee, who pleaded guilty in federal court to a multi-million dollar fraud scheme involving federal crop insurance benefits he was not entitled to receive. He faces up to 30 years in federal prison without parole.
“My dad not being around the farming ranch for Season 2 put a lot more stress and pressure on us boys, and I think I shouldered a lot of that weight,” Steven Jr. said. “We had to work together to figure out, hey, how are we going to make it while dad’s gone, while he’s dealing with his situation and try to make sure that this farm and ranch is around for generations to come.”
And with the FBI investigation underway, the brothers’ mother, Kristi McBee – who did not appear in Season 1 – steps in to keep the family from falling apart.
“We have a great relationship with our mother. She’s just the exact opposite of what my dad is. She’s an introvert and doesn’t like being in the spotlight,” Jesse said. “We were able to kind of convince her to come on just so we could show the world how special she is to not only us, but how special she can be to everybody else, and they’re gonna love her as much as we do.”
Reality TV shows bring the viewers up close to the subjects, but there can be common misconceptions when watching it all play out.
“I know for viewers, they’re getting to watch this, and it’s almost like a movie playing out, but for us, it is 100% true to story what actually happens day to day across our farm and ranch and across our relationships,” Steven said. “There is so much work for every hour of TV episodes you see, there are 100- and 200-hour work weeks where we are up at the farm just working night and day trying to make this thing work.”
Shows like “Yellowstone,” “The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys” and Beyoncé’s Grammy-winning album “Cowboy Carter” are helping bring cowboy fashion back to style outside of the farm.
“We love to see it. Honestly, that’s what we’ve kind of been talking about lately is there’s some people out there that don’t want some of these other guys and gals coming into the Western world and wearing cowboy hats and flannels and stuff like that,” Jesse said. “We support it. We want everybody, we want it to be a nationwide thing, a worldwide thing where everybody’s included and can join the cowboy way.”
Fans can catch up on the 10-episode first season on Peacock.
“Season 2, we took the drama and the stress and cranked it up to 10 from what you saw in Season 1,” Steven Jr. said. “It’s a lot of stress, a lot of pressure, and you could see how it all unfolds.
