Linda Hamilton's Resident Alien Character Is Getting A Fresh Repeat In Netflix's Biggest Sci-Fi Show Of All Time
Linda Hamilton’s character in Resident Alien is getting a fresh repeat in the next season of Netflix’s biggest sci-fi TV show of all time. Hamilton was introduced to the cast of Resident Alien as General McCallister in season 1, hunting for proof of alien life. She soon became an Harry’s enemy before the pair worked together to stop the Greys.
However, by the end of Resident Alien season 3, she became a less integral part of the larger storyline at play. In Resident Alien season 4, she decided to stay in a past timeline to stop her father’s death and help raise a past version of herself. But soon, she’ll be playing a similar character in a more popular series.
Stranger Things’ Dr. Kay Is Already Similar To General McCallister In Resident Alien
Hamilton will be joining the cast of Stranger Things season 5 as Dr. Kay, a new character set to appear in Netflix’s popular sci-fi series. Not much is known about her aside from a brief glimpse of her holding a gun in the series’ latest trailer. She appears to be working with soldiers combating the Upside Down in Hawkins.
Much like General McCallister, Dr. Kay seems to be associated with soldiers, reflective of her Resident Alien counterpart’s military status. In addition, the pair are trying to stop extraterrestrial threats from harming Earth. Kay is up against the Upside Down and its creatures, while McCallister is fighting against aliens. Their differences are matched by their similarities.
However, with Stranger Things season 5 still months away from release, it’s unclear if Dr. Kay will be a friend or a foe. There’s nothing concrete yet about whether she can be trusted by the main characters. It’s possible she could become their ally eventually, like McCallister in Resident Alien, but nothing is set in stone.
How Dr. Kay & General McCallister Are Still Very Different
The biggest difference between McCallister and Kay is the tone of the stories they’re both involved with. Despite some serious moments, Resident Alien is a comedy with many wholesome segments, especially during the end of McCallister’s story. However, Kay’s time in Stranger Things will likely be more serious and dramatic, reflecting the dark tone of season 5.
With some core similarities between them, though, Hamilton’s involvement in Stranger Things will be familiar given her portrayal of McCallister in Resident Alien. The parallels and differences between the two will no doubt grow as more is revealed about the Netflix show’s final season. For now, they remain quite similar, with the promise of uniqueness for Kay later on.
