Steven McBee Jr. Opens Up About “Huge Void” in Life Now That He and Calah Are “Over”

Steven McBee Jr. and Calah Jackson’s tumultuous on-and-off-again relationship may currently be on pause, but he’s revealing just how much he misses her in the above preview for Season 2, Episode 8 of The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys (set to air Monday, August 18).

“Honestly, with Calah and I not talking a whole lot since the Ozarks, and our relationship being essentially over, it just honestly feels like there’s a huge void in my life,” he admits in a confessional interview.

As fans may recall, Calah and Steven’s brother, Cole McBee, got into a fiery exchange while the family was on vacation at the Lake of the Ozarks, sparking the end of Steven and Calah’s relationship.

Steven McBee Jr.’s split from Calah has him feeling left out from his family
Steven’s sorrow at losing Calah as a girlfriend extends far beyond their personal relationship. In fact, he admits in the above preview that the split is impacting his mindset while hanging out with his family — more specifically, his brothers Cole and Jesse McBee, both of whom are in relationships.

“It’s hard though, because whenever I’m up here at my house by myself, and I’m with Jesse, Alli [Ventresca], Cole, Kacie [Adkison], Jake [Denton] and Teagan, I’m the seventh wheel at 30 years old,” Steven Jr. tells his mom, Kristi McBee, echoing his remarks from a previous episode: “Cole’s having a baby. Jesse’s getting married. What, am I supposed to sit at my house every day, all day long? Just sit there by myself in misery?”

Kristi, for her part, tells her son that his drama with Calah is “taking a toll” on both of them. That, and “You haven’t even given yourself the chance to talk to other girls and to date. I hope one day she finds somebody that can make her happy, but that person is not you.”

Adds Kristi in a confessional interview, “Steven and Calah have an extremely toxic relationship. It’s just a toxic cycle. And I pray this time they broke up for good.”

Why Steven McBee Jr. isn’t over Calah Jackson after their split
Steven reveals another reason he misses his ex in the above Episode 8 preview: He leaned on her for support when he stepped in as CEO of McBee Farm & Cattle Company due to Steven McBee Sr.’s absence from the farm.

“Calah was the person that I would go to escape all of my problems at work,” he explains. “All of the weight of the farm is on my shoulders right now, and I don’t have anyone to help me through it.”

“We’ve obviously had our down moments, but we have had a lot of good moments too,” Steven Jr. adds. “Otherwise, like, I wouldn’t be this stuck on it. When times are good it makes you start thinking that you have a good relationship, and you know, why not stay in it or get back in it?”
