DJ Moore Sends Classy Message to GM’s Son After Bears Trade, Hints at Possible Return One Day
Chicago, IL. The NFL offseason often brings surprising roster moves, but sometimes the most memorable moments come from the character players show when they leave.
That was the case this week after wide receiver DJ Moore was traded from the Chicago Bears to the Buffalo Bills.
The move came as a surprise to many fans, especially considering Moore had been one of the most important offensive weapons in Chicago over the past few seasons.
But the veteran receiver made sure his departure carried a message of respect and gratitude for the organization.
After the trade, Bears general manager Ryan Poles revealed that his young son was upset about Moore leaving the team.
According to Poles, Moore recorded a personal video message to reassure him not to be angry at his father for making the move.
The gesture quickly stood out as a sign of the strong relationship Moore built inside the Bears organization during his time in Chicago.
“Chicago will always mean something to me,” Moore said in a message shared with those close to the situation. “Tell him not to be mad at his dad. This is part of the business, and sometimes these decisions have to be made. But the love I have for this city and this team will never change.”
Moore went even further, hinting that his connection to Chicago may not be over forever.
“The Bears believed in me and gave me an opportunity to be part of something special. Who knows what the future holds. Maybe one day I’ll come back and wear that jersey again.”
Moore originally arrived in Chicago as part of the blockbuster trade with the Carolina Panthers in 2023. He quickly became a centerpiece of the offense, recording 96 receptions for 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns in his first season with the team.
He followed that performance with another strong year in 2024, posting 98 catches for 966 yards and six touchdowns. His production dipped in 2025 as the Bears began integrating younger playmakers into the offense.
With the emergence of players like Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III, and tight end Colston Loveland, the Bears ultimately made the difficult decision to move Moore in exchange for a 2026 second-round pick.
Now Moore begins a new chapter with the Bills, where he will reunite with head coach Joe Brady and join an offense led by quarterback Josh Allen.
But if Moore’s message is any indication, Chicago may always feel like unfinished business. And for Bears fans, the possibility of a future reunion is now a thought worth holding onto.
