This Ain’t Your Granddaddy’s Farm
This Ain't Your Granddaddy's Farm
there is a Target on our backs like no other
thought we weren’t bringing up reality
someone thinks you just put seed in the ground
and the corn instantly grows
view US Farmers as overall wearing
Pitchfork handling
old school simple life
cuz government’s already out to get the farmers
so make sure you’re ready for it
they hate us
they depend on us
but godamn hate us
hey y’all welcome to meet the mcb’s
building a dynasty
powered by AG America media
today we’re going to be talking about how
in a modern-day farming operation
this ain’t your Granddaddy’s farm
so we’re going to be deep diving
into all of the technology
that is in a modern-day tractor cab
what we’re doing on the farm
what we figured out that works
and some things that we figured out don’t work
this episode will be great
for any of you in the farming industry
but I think it’ll also be good
for anyone outside of the farming industry
that doesn’t really understand
what takes place in a modern day farm
and thinks that we’re just out here
wearing overalls
with a pitchfork in our hand
modern day Farm
is a very very technologically advanced industry
and um yeah
I’m excited for youall to tune in
new meet the mcb’s episode drops every Tuesday
on YouTube
and all other audio podcast listening platforms
so saddle up
and let’s get down and dirty with it
today we’ve got something
a little more Farm focused
than we had in the first two episodes
where we were just pretty much
discussing reality show stuff
finally getting into the farm stuff
business stuff
so I want to tell a little story
because I feel like this is the industry
in a nutshell
when it comes to people
that are not involved
in the ag industry
and what they view farming and ranching like
in the modern world
so I was on a dating show
called Joe Millionaire
which we discussed in the last episode
thought we weren’t bringing up reality
it’s a quick story okay
I swear
go for it
so we bring all these girls
from LA New York Florida
out to the farm
and the whole premise was
I was supposed to act like
I was a low-key farmer
I had a couple cows
and the girls didn’t know
that I had any sort of wealth whatsoever
and whenever we did the hometown visits
they brought the top six girls
out to a field where we were going to film
it was the middle of harvest season
and we were cutting soybeans at the time
and we had I want to say
six combines
and two or three grain carts
out in the field
it was inter turp and bottoms
yep out there cutting that big piece
yeah
and at the time
these combines were running
this would have been 2021
so still new combines were
$550 $600,000
heads are $95,000
for a Macdon draper
if not a little more
yeah actually more like $100,000 right
depends if you get new
or if you’re 2012 used
that you’re trying to fix up
but yeah
depends what you’re doing
but these things are not cheap
and it was funny
because we were out here filming this
and all of the producers were pushing the women
like still thinking
that I was a low-key farmer
the girls had absolutely no idea
what these combines even were
they were riding in them
but to them
it was just a tractor
and they also had no idea
about the value of them
they also had no idea
about what actually takes place
in one of these pieces of equipment
and I think so many people
in today’s world
that are not involved in farming and ranching
view US Farmers as
overall wearing
Pitchfork handling
old school simple life
not very complex
it’s just kind of the good old boy industry
would you agree
I’d agree
I’d say when most people
think of a farmer
they think of like the cartoon
standing there on a front porch
with an old rocking chair
a cup of coffee
yeah
not like what it is at all
not in modern day farming
that may have been farming
in the 60s 70s and 80s
where it was open cab tractors
things were very basic
it was all about just working with your hands
but quite candidly
I would go as far to say
out of all of the businesses
we are involved with
farming is by far and away
the most technologically advanced industry
we deal with
I mean some of the best farmers we know personally
are like the smartest people you’ll meet
they’re like scientists
you know what I’m saying
like when you talk in today’s day and age
you’re essentially a scientist
if you’re a farmer
yeah
chemist
scientist
I mean you got to be a lot
there is not an employee or team member
that we have found
that is as skilled
and as valuable
and as rare to find
as a 20 plus year veteran farmer
there’s just
they’ve had their hands in so much
you’ve done so much
when you’re farming
there’s so many different things
you got to do
I mean when you’re a mechanic
you’re working on mechanics all day
when you’re on a computer
you’re working on software all day
well you got to do that now
in today’s world of farming
you got to learn how to use
John Deere Ops
that was a three-year learning curve
you got to be a chemist
an agronomist
a meteorologist
and if you don’t keep up
you get left behind
this ain’t your Granddaddy’s farm anymore
