Steven McBee Jr. and Calah Jackson Split: See How They’re Now Acting “Single”
Steven McBee Jr. and Calah Jackson Split: See How They're Now Acting "Single"
After Season 1, Episode 1 of The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys, it became clear that Calah Jackson and Steven McBee Jr. were navigating major issues in their relationship. In the preview above for Episode 2, it seems that the couple has officially decided to call off their romance.
The preview shows Calah at a suave restaurant with her friends, toasting the end of her and Steven Jr.’s relationship. “I’m tired of talking about this loser, and I wanna cheers to ‘Bye Steven!'” one of her friends says as they clink their gasses.
The clip then cuts to Steven at a rooftop bar with his brothers, Cole McBee and Jesse McBee, who encourage him to meet other women.
Calah Jackson and Steven McBee Jr. talk about “starting over” after breakup
Later in the preview, we see Calah at a swanky nightclub partying with her friends. During her confessional, she describes how happy she is to be out of Steven Jr.’s hometown of Gallatin, Texas, and in Dallas.
“I feel like it’s been so long since I’ve had fun. I love being in the city,” she says in a confessional. “I love being around people my age.”
Steven Jr. also sheds light on the couple’s split. “Calah and I have been through hell and back over the last few months, and now here I am starting over,” he says. “I don’t know if I’m ready for it, but, what the hell.”

Why Calah Jackson and Steven McBee Jr. broke up
Although we won’t know why they called things off until Season 2, Episode 2 airs on July 7, Calah and Steven Jr.’s dynamic was less-than-ideal in Episode 1, mainly because of Calah’s rocky relationship with Steven Jr.’s family.
In Season 1, the Dallas native struggled to get along with her boyfriend’s dad, Steven McBee, Cole and Jesse. The couple actually broke up, but reconciled before they started filming for Season 2.
“Steven and I have been through a lot of ups and downs,” Calah said in the Season 2 premiere. “We’ve gone through a lot together, but we love each other, and the only times we’ve really had major issues is when other people get involved.”
Calah’s relationship with the family has only worsened since Season 1, specifically with Cole’s girlfriend, Kacie Adkinson, and Jesse’s fiancé, Alli Ventresca.
Calah cut off contact with Kacie, Alli and the rest of the McBee family because they never offered condolences after her sister, Mallory, passed away.
“After my sister passed away, I was expecting a little bit of love and support, but I got nothing,” Calah said in an Season 2, Episode 1 confessional. “Nobody reached out to me, not even [Alli and Kacie], who I thought I was close to.”
According to a conversation between Kacie and Cole in the same episode, they didn’t message Calah after Mallory’s passing because Steven Jr. and Calah were broken up at the time, and Steven Jr. advised his family to stop communicating with her.
